Fiji

Six days in Fiji is the definition of a proper island escape - the warmth of the people is as striking as the warmth of the water, the coral reefs are some of the healthiest in the Pacific, and the pace of life on the smaller Mamanuca Islands is set entirely by the tides and the sunset. Come here to do nothing at all, and do it perfectly.

Detailed Day-by-Day Itinerary

Day 1

Arrive Nadi | Sabeto Hot Springs | Garden of the Sleeping Giant | Denarau

Arrive at Nadi International Airport and transfer to your Denarau resort. Morning visit to the Sabeto Hot Springs and Mud Pools for a geothermal soak. Drive to the Garden of the Sleeping Giant, a private orchid garden created by the late Raymond Burr with thousands of tropical orchid varieties under rainforest canopy. Evening at Port Denarau Marina for dinner. Overnight Denarau.

πŸ’‘ Tip: Fijian people are among the warmest and most welcoming in the world - always accept the bula greeting with a smile and learn a few Fijian words.
Day 2

Ferry to Mamanuca Islands | South Sea Island | Snorkeling Over Coral

Morning fast catamaran from Port Denarau to the Mamanuca Islands, the postcard-perfect small islands of powdery sand and turquoise water that most people picture when they think of Fiji. Spend the day at South Sea Island or Bounty Island, tiny cays completely surrounded by reef. Snorkel over brilliant coral gardens with hundreds of tropical fish species. Overnight island resort.

πŸ’‘ Tip: The Mamanuca Islands are only a 1-hour boat from Nadi - choose a resort on one of the smaller outer islands rather than Malolo Lailai for a more authentic experience.
Day 3

Island Day | Coral Viewing | Traditional Kava Ceremony | Sunset Cruise

Full day at leisure on your island. Morning snorkeling on the house reef directly off the beach. Afternoon glass-bottom boat trip for non-swimmers over the coral gardens. Late afternoon traditional Fijian kava ceremony with villagers - accept every cup offered, drink it in one shot, and clap once after. Sunset cruise around the islands. Overnight island resort.

πŸ’‘ Tip: Kava is a mildly numbing root drink central to Fijian culture - always accept it when offered in a ceremony, as declining is considered disrespectful.
Day 4

Yasawa Islands Day Trip | Blue Lagoon | Sea Kayaking

Day trip by fast boat to the Yasawa Islands, the more remote northern island chain. Visit the Blue Lagoon, the impossibly clear sheltered bay made famous by the 1980 Brooke Shields film. Sea kayaking between the islands through passages with coral below. Optional guided snorkel with marine biologist. Return to resort by evening. Overnight Mamanuca island.

πŸ’‘ Tip: The Yasawa Flyer day trip is a full day out and well worth it - the Yasawas feel significantly more remote and undeveloped than the Mamanucas.
Day 5

Coral Coast | Sigatoka Sand Dunes | Cultural Village | Surf Break

Day trip to the Coral Coast on Viti Levu's south shore. Visit the Sigatoka Sand Dunes National Park, Fiji's first national park with ancient pottery shards and dramatic coastal dunes. Stop at a traditional Fijian village for a cultural welcome and insight into village life. Optional surf lesson at Sigatoka River mouth, one of Fiji's most consistent beginner surf breaks. Return to Denarau. Overnight Denarau resort.

πŸ’‘ Tip: Ask your guide about the archaeological finds in the Sigatoka Dunes - the dunes have preserved extraordinary evidence of Fiji's ancient Lapita people.
Day 6

Final Morning Swim | Nadi Town | Departure

Final morning swim and last Fijian breakfast. Visit Nadi Town market for tropical fruit, tapa cloth, and local black coral jewellery. Transfer to Nadi International Airport for your return flight. End of tour.

πŸ’‘ Tip: Buy Fijian black coral jewellery only from certified sellers - unregulated harvesting is banned and certified pieces come with documentation.
